Ashton and Zachary joined the Special Equestrians of Indian River County in Vero Beach, Florida. Hippo therapy is excellent therapy for Autistic children. Activities include riding with hands outstretched, catching and throwing a ball while sitting on the horse, leaning forward on the horse, turning around on top of the horse and getting the horse to stop and go without jerking forward or backward. And they even learn how to turn the horse left and right.

Each week they have different volunteers who work with them. This has been a wonderful therapy for both boys. Their balance is wonderful while riding and we are trying to work on carrying that balance over into other areas. The instructors are diligent about having the boys look a them while talking and they try to help them overcome sensitivity issues.
