Ashton
Stephen William Poole Born December 3, 1995 in Amman Jordan
|
The Beginnings
From the beginning Ashton has been unique. He was born in
Amman, Jordan while we were living in Jerash, Jordan. He was a
large baby, and Wendy had Gestational Diabetes. The doctor
decided that he should induce rather than wait for labor to
begin on its own. Three weeks prior to his due date, we took a
crowded, public transportation bus to the capital city from our
little village (about a 45-minute ride after an hour wait at the
bus stop). Once in Amman we took a cab to the hospital. |
| Ashton went into fetal distress
several times during the induction process. The doctor finally
decided to do an emergency C-section. He was so jaundiced
(yellowish skin) that Steve could not believe it was his son
when the nurse first brought him. Somewhat confused, he almost
said, "No, my child should be the American boy. The little
white one."
The pediatrician insisted that Ashton's APGAR score was
perfect, but we wonder how much of that was cultural (Arabs do
not like to give you bad news). He did receive excellent medical
care and was only sick once while we lived in Jordan. |
Ashton
has always been very outgoing with a wonderful personality that
is unique

Ashton
is a real "Ham" for the camera

Since Ashton was born in Jordan, we
decided to keep his Jordanian name (his name, his father's name
and his grandfather's name) when we applied for his "Birth
Abroad" Certificate (similar to a birth certificate).
Therefore, his full name is Ashton Stephen William Poole. Since
the area of Jordan where he was born and we lived is a part of
the original land given to the children of Israel by God, we
also tell people that he was born in the Holy Land. [NEXT] |
